Research Assistant

<strong>All Africa Leprosy Tuberculosis and rehabilitation training center (ALERT) would like to hire qualified candidates for the following post</strong><br /><strong>Position:</strong> Research Assistant<br /><strong>Project: </strong>ETHICOBOTS<br /><strong>&nbsp;Duties and Responsibilities</strong><br />&nbsp;The Research Assistant will:<ul><li>Coordinate economic study (WP 6) of the project</li><li>Assist economic study staff&nbsp; with the development and execution of the project</li><li>Modeling various control strategies for BTB (e.g. test and slaughter, vaccination, segregation</li><li>Work under specific instructions to assist with routine tests, experiments, and procedures</li><li>Collect, process, and assist in the compilation and verification of research data, samples, and/ or specimens (following strict protocol and detailed instructions)</li><li>Assist with routine data verification and quality control, ensuring data integrity and consistency with prescribed study protocol</li><li>&nbsp;Perform other duties as assigned by Work package leader</li></ul>

Required education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics<ul><li>Veterinary degree with four year of experiences and 2 years&nbsp; for MSc</li><li>Fluent in spoken and written English</li><li>Must be familiar with publication writing</li><li>Must have worked with farm animals before, particularly cattle and have an interest in dairy farming and the dairy sector (e.g. milk marketing, milk safety)</li><li>Must have good skills in communication (with people from different social/cultural background) and coordination.</li><li>Be comfortable and able to work in a multi-cultural, international context, with different partners</li><li>Be a good team player and be able to work in a big team</li><li>Be able to work against strict deadlines</li><li>Knowledge in microbiology and economics</li><li>&nbsp;Proficiency in using Microsoft packages (word, excel, access) and basic statistics</li></ul>&nbsp;<br />Salary<br />&nbsp;<ul><li>Negotiable/attractive</li></ul>&nbsp;<br />Benefits<ul><li>100% medical cost coverage at the institute</li><li>Transport service</li></ul>Required Number<br />&nbsp;<ul><li>ONE (1)</li></ul>
